Pakistan political unrest: Imran Khan’s adviser Asad Umar detained from court 2023

Geo News said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar was detained from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) a day after Imran Khan’s imprisonment.

The Islamabad police Anti-Terrorist Squad detained the PTI Secretary-General today.

While preparing a petition for the IHC, Umar was arrested outside the IHC Bar Association’s office. Geo News reported he petitioned Imran Khan for a meeting.

Umar was arrested despite PTI attorneys’ best efforts.

Imran Khan’s party demanded a national demonstration over his detention today.

Rangers detained Khan outside Islamabad High Court on NAB’s Al-Qadir Trust warrant.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigated Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others for allegedly gaining hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust, which cost the national exchequer 190 million pounds.

Geo News reported PTI demonstrations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan. Karachi protesters fought cops near Nursery. They stoned police cars and tore down street lights.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said the party will appeal the Islamabad High Court’s upholding of Imran Khan’s arrest in the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.

Protesters gathered outside Pakistan’s ambassador’s house in Washington on Tuesday (local time) after Imran Khan’s detention in Islamabad.

Washington, New York, and Chicago protested. Imran Khan supporters protested his detention outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on Tuesday evening.

As Pakistanis protested for Khan’s release, the US, Canada, and the UK issued travel advisories for their nationals and diplomats.
