Political circles discuss Sajad Lone’s back-to-back talks with Baig 2023

In Kashmir Valley, the back-to-back meetings between Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone and former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig and his wife Safina Baig have created a stir in political circles.

Baig met with Lone and senior leader and former MLA Nizamuddin Bhat at his residence in Srinagar yesterday evening.

“I, along with @nizamuddinbhat6 sahib, visited Beigh sahib, who is preparing for Haj. We extended our stay as we reminisced about the good old days. Beigh sahib and Nizam sahib were emergent youthful leaders of @ JKPC_ when I was in school,” Lone tweeted.

Later, DDC chairperson Baramulla Safina Baig tweeted on the image shared by Lone, “People Conference stalwarts in one picture,” sparking rumors regarding Baig’s reunion with PC.

“People Conference Icons in one Photograph. My sibling @sajadlone sb wished us well as we embark on the Hajj pilgrimage. His visit essentially brought back all the memories of MuzaffarBeigh sb from the good old days. It is always a joy to hear from wd Lone sb and @nizamuddinbhat6 sb,” Safina Baig tweeted.

Baig’s re-entry into the PC would be a significant boost for the party, which is anticipated to pose a formidable challenge to the National Conference in North Kashmir’s Lok Sabha elections.

Support from the PC for Safina Baig would also improve her electoral prospects in the Kreeri-Wagoora Assembly segment, where Imran Reza Ansari wields significant influence.

When contacted, Imran Reza Ansari, general secretary of the PC, stated that it was merely a social call.

“Safina Ji had come to meet our party’s president as she and Baig Sb are proceeding on Hajj,” he explained.
