Boris Johnson will have “no political comeback,” right? 2023
Allegations have been made that former Prime Minister Boris Johnson breached lockdown regulations when he hosted relatives and friends at Chequers. These allegations have been forwarded to the police.
The allegations that were involved in the Partygate controversy ultimately led to the removal of Mr. Johnson as prime minister in July of last year.
The fresh accusations, which Mr. Johnson’s team has called as a “clearly politically motivated attempt to manufacture something out of nothing,” put extra pressure on the Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip as he battles for his political career. Mr. Johnson is representing the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
Sir John Curtice believes the previous Prime Minister’s reputation would make a comeback difficult.
According to a study that was conducted by YouGov in the month of March, only 13 percent of the British people polled think that Mr. Johnson is honest, while 72 percent indicated they thought he is dishonest. In addition, this attitude was shared by fifty percent of people who voted Conservative in the general election of 2019 in the United States.
In a piece of writing that he contributed to the i, Sir John Curtice, a political scientist who has worked for many years in the field, asserted that because of Mr. Johnson’s reputation, “there will be no political comeback” for him.
Citing research done by Savanta, he stated that the former Prime Minister has “little appeal” outside of the core supporters of the Conservative Party.
According to the findings of the poll, less than one in five supporters of the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats are prepared to show some respect for him. In the meantime, only five percent of respondents said that they would welcome Mr. Johnson’s return to Downing Street.
