Tinubu was the most loyal political combatant for Abiola: Keyamo 2023
Festus Keyamo, SAN, a former minister of labor and employment, has labeled President Bola Tinubu as one of the most ardent political soldiers of Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the presidential election that was annulled in 1993.
On Monday, Keyamo announced this in a message that was sent through his verified Twitter profile.
The former minister uploaded a photo on social media that included the late MKO Abiola, who was declared the winner of the election, the late General Sani Abacha, who became head of state following the annulment of the election, and Tinubu, who would go on to become president thirty years later.
Keyamo called Tinubu Abiola’s political soldier in this photo caption.
He added, “Today, being June 12, 2023, which is exactly 30 years after the elections in 1993, one of the most faithful political soldiers of the winner of that annulled election (Chief MKO Abiola) has just addressed the nation as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.” The year is 2023, and the date is exactly 30 years after the elections in 1993.
“God Almighty, in His wisdom, also considered it suitable to preserve the life of two individuals to see this day: one is the ‘evil genius’ who annulled the election, and two is Abiola’s kinsman from Ota who backed the annulment and has sought to play ‘God’ in the affairs of our nation. One of these men is the man who annulled the election, and the other is Abiola’s kinsman from Ota who supported the annulment.
“When it comes to all of these, I have never seen a better scenario in the annals of our country that fits the saying that life, indeed, has come full circle!”
On the 12th of June, Nigerians gather to commemorate Democracy Day. This event is held to remember the day in 1993 when Nigeria’s military decided to nullify the election that was widely considered to be the country’s freest and fairest ever held.
